DIY Home Decor Ideas :: Upcycled Crochet Doily Lamp

“There is a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in.” ~ Leonard Cohen

SO how do you create an upcycled lampshade? The answer is, with a simple craft idea. Aa a result you get another DIY project for the weekend.

These blue crochet doilies were made by my mother {yes, the creativity runs in the family!} a long time ago. They used to be a part of my dining room decor but I hadn't used them for some time now.

After finishing a previous upcycling project, I was left with a lampshade metal wire frame. And because I hate wasting things, I had to come up with a plan to combine the two to create an interesting and useful upcycling project idea for my living room decor.

So, i decided to keep it simple! I wrapped the doily around the frame and stitched the base up with some nylon thread. Once it was secured, I turned the frame upside down and added the electrical wire & led bulb holder to it and voila!! Here it is...shining brightly. The wire frame kept it steady and the doily patterns gave it a unique vintage look.

When lit up at night, it throws some very beautiful patterns around the entire room. They look like little butterflies flying around on my walls!
